Eye and Palate Surgeries for Brittany the Pug from Williams Township

Organized by SNORT Rescue

Help Brittany get the surgeries she needs!
At only 2 years old, sweet little Brittany has been plagued with eye problems and has extreme difficulty breathing when she get's excited. Luckily for Brittany and her 9 other pug friends, they landed in SNORT's care after their owner was tragically murdered in their former home. Now that Brittany is in a loving and experienced foster home with SNORT, she will be given the opportunity to be a healthy young pug like she deserves to be.

To be specific, first, Brittany needs to have her elongated soft palate resected, or shortened, to allow air to flow more freely through her airways and into her lungs. When Brittany was spayed, it was determined by the vet that her palate was extremely long and it was clearly the cause for her breathing difficulties. Second, Brittany will need eye surgery. Sadly, Brittany is completely blind in one eye, and her other eye is much larger and the eyelid is unable to close over the eye completely, leading to constant discomfort and dry-eye. Fortunately, there is an operation called a Medial and Lateral Canthoplasty, which will partially stitch closed her eye lid to make it possible for her to properly blink in the future. This will also enable Brittany to close her eye completely when she sleeps, which will be a huge help for her dry eye.

After taking in 10 pugs from this terrible situation, the vet bills have begun to really add up. Between lyme disease requiring treatment in several of the dogs, spays/neuters, and several other procedures, we have quickly depleted our funds. However, Brittany still desperately needs these operations.

Brittany's soft palate resection surgery has been quoted at $1,300, and her eye surgery has been quoted at $860. In order to get Brittany healthy, we are hoping to raise $2,160 to cover these procedures, so that Brittany can be adopted and live a long and healthy life.

Please consider donating to Brittany's care. She will finally have the opportunity to play with other dogs without struggling to breathe. And, she will finally be able to blink and sleep comfortably with a fully closed eye.
